Bio: Julia graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2019 with concurrent degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Psychology as a University Honors Scholar. She was awarded a Dean’s Medalist as one of only 10 outstanding students named in the College of Science and Mathematics. During her four years at Auburn University, Julia became very involved on campus. As a senior, she served as the President of the BIG Event, an organization dedicated to giving back to the Auburn community in Auburn’s largest volunteering event.
Julia is passionate about supporting other students, as demonstrated in her role as a two-year Resident Assistant for Auburn Housing, where her main focus was to build community in campus residence halls. Julia also acted as a research assistant at the Harrison School of Pharmacy, presenting her lab’s research on potential Alzheimer’s treatments at the Student Research Symposium, and was also a research intern at Advanced Neurosciences Institute, a neurology research clinic in Franklin, TN. Julia has embraced her interest in education first as a Chemistry tutor and subsequently, as an instructor for an MCAT course. She thoroughly enjoys helping fellow students in their journey towards medical school. Her love for education and student support is what led her to apply for the Fulbright ETA program.
Julia’s long term career goal is to become a physician, and after her Fulbright year concludes, she will attend the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN to pursue that goal. She expects that the skills and experiences that she gains during her Fulbright grant will help her to become a better doctor and educator of her patients.
